I've spent the last 22 years as an active duty Marine, so the demands of military life, deployments, etc., caused me to focus even more on cooking when not engaged in military activities. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I often hosted "get-togethers" or parties for friends and family where I have the opportunity to cook and entertain for a large group of people. I started cooking as a teenager... about 14 or 15. My mom was such a wonderful woman, but cooking was not her strength, so I was interested in taking the dishes she would make for the family and improve on them. I would watch TV shows like "The Galloping Gourmet" to get tips and techniques for cooking. Over the years, cooking has turned into a passion and a form of stress relief when not working. I've visited and lived all over the world, and have used that wonderful experience to try local cuisines and incorporate techniques and ingredients from my experiences into various dishes.
