The 21st Century. If one strains their ears, one can gather echoes traveling back to us from a dismal future, hankering for the nostalgic, innocent and simpler times of this era. The 21st Century where we don't live in a society. We live in tubes, in simulations, in hypotheticals and in conspiracies. We live in line graphs, in word vomits, in feeds, in filters, in videos and in games. Basterds navigate this terrain of solipsistic confabulations. “Two weeks to two minutes” said Cyrus West Field—an entrepreneur, —when the telegraph line was laid across Atlantic in 1866. Now in place of these obsolete thick copper cable lay nets upon nets of fiber optics where we sail daily. And the echo of our future sounds across these nets of our present and of our past, where we are constructing a singular Transatlantic tunnel, dug under the pioneer ocean for us to live in, when the whole world itself drowns under the weight of our present & our past. Basterds navigate these uncertain terrain.
