I'm of Sicilian descent, and under Italian law am ... Italian. I'm in the process of formalizing and recognizing my Italian ... and, by extension, EU ... citizenship. So, I figure it's time I learned Italian. My father always claimed he didn't remember his Italian (which he spoke growing up in Brooklyn,) primarily because my parents didn't want their children to be "hyphenated Americans." So, we ended up being pure Americans ... you know ... only able to speak English. Because, apparently if you can speak another language, you're not _truly_ American. If I can figure out how to share screens and live stream, my plan is to ... starting on Jan 1, 2024 ... learn Italian live on YouTube. So, you'll be able to see just how bad I can be at learning a new skill! I have the DLI Italian coursework and Rosetta Stone, which will be my primary tools. As ... or, maybe _if_ ... I improve, I'll start watching Italian YouTube resources. My goal is an hour a day, live here!
