About
• Why are some places beloved while others are never popular? • What characteristics are more conducive to human habitation? • How do form, use, and human perception help create a sense of place? • Where are the time-proven examples of successful placemaking? • Who has thought and researched and written about the subject? • Shouldn't designers of the public realm know this stuff? Robert Tullis has practiced architecture in Boston for over 30 years. After 13 years at Elkus Manfredi Architects, he migrated to the dark side of R.E. development in 2008. As Sr. V.P. and Director of Design at the General Investment & Development Companies, he oversees all design aspects of the GID Development Group’s projects. Rob's been involved in or directed a number of well known mixed-use projects featuring placemaking as an essential component; including University Park at MIT, The Grove at Farmers Market, Americana at Brand, and Belmar. He is co-chair of the BSA's Placemaking Network.
