Impact investing can be defined as “investments made into companies or organizations with the intent to contribute to measurable positive social or environmental impact, alongside financial returns.” On April 12, 2019, 60 global investors came together to launch the Principles at the World Bank Group (WBG)–International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C. These First Adopters became the initial investors committing to manage their impact assets in accordance with the Principles. Investor interest continues to grow since the launch, with more organizations stepping up to become Signatories.
