In 1999 Heidi & Guy Burgess, and Dick Salem (thanks to support from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation) developed the Civil Rights Mediation Oral History Project which highlights oral histories from seventeen mediators from the U.S. Community Relations Service (CRS). In 2021 Heidi Burgess, in collaboration with William (Bill) Froehlich and former CRS Director Grande Lum began collecting new oral histories from former CRS civil rights mediators to revisit the original project. This youtube channel will include more than fifty hours of new oral histories from at least ten CRS conciliators. For complete transcripts for the videos posted on this youtube page will become publicly available in the near future at this site www.civilrightsmediation.org.
