About

Fonseca, born in Bogotá on May 29, 1979, has become one of the most influential singer-songwriters in contemporary Latin music. With seven Latin Grammy Awards and two Grammy nominations, his career is defined by versatility, blending tradition with innovation. Educated at Universidad Javeriana and Berklee College of Music, Fonseca’s self-titled debut introduced him to the Colombian scene. His second album, Corazón (2005), fused pop/rock with vallenato and bullerengue, setting the tone for future works like Ilusión (2011) and Sinfónico (2013), recorded with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia. Beyond accolades such as La Musa Triunfador and the prestigious Orden de Boyacá, he has also given back through Fundación Gratitud, preserving cultural traditions and promoting peace. Musically, albums like Agustín (2018), Viajante (2022), and Tropicalia (2023) mark his artistic maturity. The latter, which won the 2024 Latin Grammy for Best Tropical Album, honors the roots of Latin genres—bolero, salsa, merengue, tropipop, vallenato—through collaborations with legends like Juan Luis Guerra, Grupo Niche, and Gilberto Santa Rosa. Spanning over two decades, Fonseca’s journey is more than a discography: it is a living bridge between heritage and evolution, proving that his music continues to be a vital map of Latin sound.
