Sustainability Theory: We can’t fix the food system by focusing on Top-Down activities. If we want a truly sustainable food system that solves the problem of world hunger then it needs to happen from the Bottom-Up. Or Grassroots Sustainability I wrote a book called “Sustainability Theory: Food – Building A More Sustainable Food System From The Grassroots Up” which you can get at SustainabilityTheory.com It showcase solutions and action ready ideas that farms and food consumers can use today to help end world hunger while building a truly sustainable food system that only uses one calorie of energy, or less, to produce one calorie of food. (Our current system of industrial agriculture averages about 10 calories of energy used to produce 1 calorie of food.) We can feed the world, or rather the world can feed itself, if we focus our efforts and energy to the right areas instead of doing the same Top-down approach we’ve been trying for centuries.
