We are an interracial couple and our introduction video on YouTube introduces us and how we met and the racism we have dealt with throughout our relationship. We met at the end of 2010 and have been married since 2012. We wanted to create this outlet to have a place where we all can continue to have uncomfortable yet necessary conversations about the social, political, and emotional issues that continue to take place in our country and around the world. We do not want these stories in the news and the people that are being murdered and brutalized to just turn into hashtags and then be forgotten. We call it "Mixed Emotions" because I am White, grew up in an upper-middle-class family, and will be speaking as myself from that perspective. My husband is Black, grew up in the projects of OKC, and has much different viewpoints on life than I do. I am definitely not speaking for all White people and he is not speaking for all Black people; these cultures are not monolithic.
