Cosmas Paul Mfoy, professionally known as Rapcha, was born on September 23, 1999, in Shinyanga, Tanzania. Growing up in a family of two children, he faced adversity early on when his father passed away in an accident in 2003, leaving him under his mother’s care. Despite these challenges, Rapcha found his voice in music from a young age, displaying remarkable talent in singing and songwriting by the age of 11. Rapcha’s first solo track, “Chafu,” was released in 2015, followed by a series of singles that showcased his growing versatility and skill. His debut mixtape, Just a Step Mixtape, launched in 2018, bringing him visibility across social media platforms and eventually leading to a meeting with prominent Tanzanian producer P-Funk Majani. This pivotal moment led to a record deal with Bongo Records Ltd in 2019, where his crew, Bornlate Music, flourished, and Rapcha established his brand, WANANGU 99. His breakthrough came with hit singles like “Amen” and “Unaua Vibe,” which included collaborations with notable artists. In 2021, his single “Lissa” topped charts, solidifying his position as a rising star. His career milestones continued with the release of Wanangu 99 Pre-Album and his success at the 2022 Tanzania Music Awards (TMA), where he received six nominations and won the Best New Artist Award. Later that year, Rapcha unveiled the To the Top Vol.1 EP, expanding his fan base and industry reach.
