On 29th February 1996 a group of Cumbria Police Officers retired. We had all completed over 30 years of service working a variety of roles throughout Cumbria. We now had time to do things we had always wanted to do. We wanted to start retirement on the right foot and so formed the Retired Officers Activity Group (ROAGS). The first year the group of 10 walked a total of 430 miles, climbed a total 69,860 feet of ascent to peaks totalling 115, 305 feet. We have been going out each Tuesday since and are now approaching our 17th year - we are so priviledged and lucky.
