The Wedgwood International Seminar (WIS) was created in 1956 so that collectors, scholars, researchers, and curators could gather annually to discuss what Josiah Wedgwood dared to dream about and then to produce beginning in the 18th century. Since the inception of the organization, we have held an annual seminar, during which noted international ceramics luminaries have delivered lectures, a Proceedings book with all the lectures has been produced annually, and we have been proud to foster several generations of collectors and students of Wedgwood’s production, his marketing genius, and his place in the history of British ceramics and manufacturing. Over the years, WIS has become the premier organization for those around the world who are interested in Wedgwood.
