He worked at an economic consulting firm for over six years after studying economics at UC Berkeley and UC Davis for his academic training. As a private sector economist, he specialized in macro-economic forecasting on a national, regional, and local level. His work ranged from accurately forecasting U.S. GDP for a major Wall Street hedge fund manager, to forecasting sales tax for California municipalities. He did extensive research in real estate markets, international trade, labor markets, industry analysis, and a range of other economic focuses.
