95 South is a Jacksonville bass duo of Mike Mike (Michael Phillips) and Daddy Black (Carlos Spencer) from Jacksonville, Florida. The group's name is a reference to Interstate 95, which passes through the city. Their biggest success was the 1993 hit "Whoot, There It Is" from their debut album Quad City Knock, which reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was produced by Grammy Nominated C.C. Lemonhead & Jay "Ski" McGowan, then known as The Bass Mechanics, who would later be known as the 69 Boyz and the Quad City DJ's. Since 2000, the group has continued to tour the country at major festiavls including Grad Bash, Funk Fest tours, Colleges, and Private functions. In 2014, Daddy Black and Mike Mike started touring with a Live band including Grad Bash, Funk Fest, and many other tour stops.They continue to play the Hits and deliver audiences with a taste of their new originals, including "Chevy" and "After Party"! The band is continuing to tour in 2016 while recording a new album.
