Mary's Meals provides one daily meal in a place of education in order to attract chronically hungry children into a classroom, where they receive an education that can, in the future, be their ladder out of poverty. We began by feeding 200 children in Malawi. Today we feed more than 2.4 million hungry children in some of the world's poorest countries every school day. The average worldwide cost for us to feed a child for a whole school year is just £19.15. Wherever possible, Mary's Meals uses locally grown food to support the local economy. We work hard to keep our running costs low and to ensure that at least 93 percent of donations go to our charitable work. This is only possible since most of our work is done by many amazing volunteers.
