Created upon the death of founder and NiceKicks.com Editor-In-Chief George Kiel III’s mother Debra Kiel, the Kiel Colon Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that desires to address colon cancer on multiple fronts through education, public outreach, research and aggressive initiatives. Our main purpose is to encourage screening for the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in both men and women. We also place a great focus on prevention and do so by attacking the modifiable risk factors of colon cancer – namely physical inactivity, obesity and diet – by encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Nothing can be done about the non-modifiable risk factors of colorectal cancer, such as heredity and family history, but we believe a steady and direct focus on the behavioral risk factors can assuredly force colon cancer, the third most frequently diagnosed cancer in America, down the list. “Together, Let’s Kiel* Colon Cancer.”
