Since 1982, Northwest School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children (NWSDHH) has been ensuring that deaf and hard-of-hearing (D/HH) children are prepared to thrive throughout their educational journey. Using Signing Exact English (S.E.E.) and oral communication, we prepare D/HH children to be self-confident, articulate and academically-competitive learners and engaged community members. We believe that deafness is not an obstacle to academic excellence. We help children from birth to 8th grade develop communication skills they need to thrive socially and academically – in the classroom, at home, on the playground and beyond. Located in Shoreline, WA, NWSDHH partners with more than 20 school districts, serving approximately 500 Western Washington families annually. Thanks to our community of donors and support from local school districts, we are able to achieve remarkable outcomes while keeping our one-of-a-kind programs within reach of all families who might benefit.
