Hi, I’m Jane — a retired math teacher who took piano lessons from age 12 to 17. I’m far from a skilled pianist, just a happily imperfect one who never stopped loving 🎹. After retiring to Florida, I began playing for seniors with Alzheimer’s at a nearby residence where my husband’s aunt lived. They didn’t care about mistakes — they just loved singing along. Their warmth and joy helped me overcome stage fright and inspired me to start this channel in 2009. Here you’ll find slow, clear piano tutorials that make it easier to check notes, fingering, and rhythm. Some say this isn’t “real” teaching — and they’re right, in a way. As master teacher Seymour Bernstein said: “Getting all the notes right, the rhythm right, the dynamics right will mean nothing unless we make a physical [muscular] connection to the musical feeling.” If my videos help you get started, I encourage you to also learn from the many master teachers on YouTube — their insights can take you far beyond the notes.
