In my 13+ years with the Federal Government, I have been very disappointed in how little the government does to educate their employees on what the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) is, how it works and why they should invest in it. I was very lucky to have good mentors to tell me what they did with their TSP retirement accounts because I would not be on the retirement path that I am on. I hope to help new and seasoned, Federal employees understand the importance of the TSP so that they can be prepared for retirement. I also hope to teach new and seasoned employees ways to supplement their TSP so that they have the ability to retire earlier than 57. I have always been frustrated with how taboo it is to talk about a person's retirement through the TSP. It is like trying to pull teeth out of someone in trying to find out how much he/she has saved in their retirement account with the TSP. I will be showing my actual TSP account balances and sharing my personal experience with the TSP.
