The MANILA COMPOSERS LAB (MCL), founded in 2009, is a group of composers based in the Philippines, whose primary goal is the development of a contemporary musical praxis in the Southeast Asian Region. The general membership of the MCL is international, but a core group determines the nature of its organizational activities. These activities mainly consists of projects for the artistic creation, performance and production of new music, especially by young composer members, as well as the hosting of guest artists and composers from outside the Philippines to conduct workshops and masterclasses for MCL members. Since February 2015, the MCL has organized its official performing arm, the RIPIENO ENSEMBLE which, in line with the MCL goals, perform in regular concerts within and outside the Philippines and premiere works especially by the MCL Core Group.
