Have you ever discovered something that makes you forget about the world around you? When I bake, that is exactly what happens and I relax, disappearing into the rhythm of the recipe. Life is sweeter and simpler. There is enjoyment in the process and it's learning to be present in the moment. It's me, my tools, and my creativity. Baking is a metaphor for life. There are the ingredients that are individual and stand alone. Then you combine them to make "something," either turning out a masterpiece or a total bust. Yet whatever happens, there is the ability to try again, make it better, tweak it, manipulate those ingredients to be whole and new. Baking is sharing love to others, it's communal in spirit, and changes with the seasons. As I share my heart through "baking," it is also rediscovering the beauty of this imperfect life. I hope you are inspired to find what makes you joyful in this life, to remember the little things that are special, and to smile despite the challenges.
