About

B8SE (real name Oyintanda Makopo) is a South African rapper and songwriter from Qonce, Eastern Cape, whose music bridges raw storytelling with genre-blending innovation. He began rapping in Grade 3, driven by a lifelong passion for hip hop and a mission to make his voice heard. B8SE’s sound fuses hip hop, trap, and local vernacular influences, crafting a style that’s both deeply personal and universally relatable. His lyrics reflect authentic experiences, touching on ambition, identity, and perseverance — themes that resonate with listeners across South Africa and beyond. Breaking through with the viral single “Thandabani”, which became a TikTok sensation and entered South Africa’s Shazam Top 200, B8SE proved that independent voices from the Eastern Cape can shape the national sound. Having collaborated with fellow rising artists early in his career, he continues to evolve his craft while remaining rooted in his truth. Now signed to BLOKENTERTAINMENT, B8SE represents the new generation of South African hip hop — fearless, introspective, and unapologetically original. His upcoming debut album captures his growth and determination, blending hard-hitting beats with the honesty of an artist who built his path from the ground up. For B8SE, hip hop isn’t just a genre — it’s a language, a legacy, and a way to inspire others to dream louder.
