Professor Paula L. Parks, Ph.D. is an English professor at Bakersfield College. She coordinates the Umoja Community African-American Success Through Excellence and Persistence (ASTEP) program, which is designed to increase the success and graduation rates of Black students. The program includes coursework, counseling support, academic and cultural trips, mentors, study space, and college tours.This channel will feature video on the Umoja Community program.
