Hi, I'm Miss Barb the Tutor and I'm here with your "Tutor Fix". I'll share with you, from a layperson's perspective, how kids learn, what goes wrong, and how to help the struggling student. My journey began many moons ago in Occupational Therapy school studying developmental stages. Later, I helped develop a hands-on history curriculum for homeschoolers that had great appeal to families with struggling students. Seeking to help these families, I came across many programs claiming to be “the answer”. Each had some merit. Eventually, I became a sales rep for one of these companies and had the opportunity to collaborate with parents and specialists around the world tailoring programs for kids. When my journey took yet another turn, I had the chance to apply the techniques that had largely been theory before.
