Friends Drift Inn Homestead focuses on "Growing a Good Life in Appalachia." Joyce and Charlie are vocal advocates for small scale sustainable agriculture and maintain a farm in the Eastern Kentucky coalfields. Friends Drift Inn video topics include homestead preparedness, heirloom gardening, high tunnel production, seed saving, canning and preserving food both at home in in a commercial kitchen, home cooking and recipes, pantry tips, emergency planning, and explores Appalachian culture, folklore, and food ways. Under Joyce's creative ideas, Friends Drift Inn began as a blog, expanded into a locally syndicated newspaper column, a county cable television show, a commercial farm for farmers market production, and eventually into a homestead enterprise producing vegetables, herbs, flowers, berries, and Appalachian inspired jams and specialty items.
