Louisiana Sugarcane tells the story of the Bayou State's sugarcane industry with pictures, videos and the written word. Louisiana Sugarcane's YouTube Channel is sponsored by the American Sugar Cane League (ASCL), a non-profit organization of Louisiana sugar cane growers and processors. The ASCL was Incorporated in 1922 and its sole purpose at that time was to save the Louisiana sugarcane industry which was threatened with extinction by cane diseases. The group chose the name "American Sugar Cane League" because in 1922, Louisiana's sugarcane industry was the only sugarcane industry in the United States of American. Today, the League's main functions continue to be research, along with legislation, product promotion, education and public relations.
