Jim Pee Wee Martin was a member of the 101st airborne division. He was known as an original Toccoa man. He trained in Toccoa, GA with the first ever airborne units and fought all major battles in WWII. He and his wife, Donna (Veverka) bought 52 acres in Sugarceek Township Ohio in 1946. They picked Sugarcreek for three reasons, it’s water, no railroad systems and it was 30 min to his job in Dayton, Ohio. They raised five children at their homestead they called paradise. Donna passed away in 2019. After her death he changed his trust and left their paradise to the township in hopes of it being preserved. Per the township they had ‘no use’ for it. When their oldest daughter learned of the situation she immediately took action to buy back a portion of the land. On August 25, 2923 she closed on 14 acres. The remaining acres were auctioned. The township did zero to maintain Martin’s property. These videos will document Pee Wee and Donna’s house as it is transformed to their once paradise.
