Growing up in Southern Illinois, we considered ourselves part of the South. Anything above I-64 was and is "up north". Regionally we cook simple, delicious meals that you would find anywhere in the midwest. Being near Carbondale, home of SIU, there are many cultures represented along with their foods; so we have the best of both worlds here.
