The Thai term bandara translates as 'window to the stars'. Indeed from its founding in 1982, Bandara Group has followed its own star in illuminating the spirit of Thai hospitality. The group's origins trace back to the venerable Chin House in Bangkok's Silom district, a serviced apartment opened in 1983 and at the time the city's first such accommodation operating to international standards. In 2005, group founder Naputt Assakul established Bandara Resort & Spa on the island of Samui. He later would return attention to his family's first hotel property, rebranding Chin House as Bandara Suites and Bandara Residence. Today, Bandara Group operates as a diverse hospitality-industry company. The company owns and operates hotels and resorts as well as manages independently owned properties.
