Ever wonder why lab results from two "identical" samples produce very different analytical values? Normal Sampling videos provide answers and cover the pitfalls and corresponding QA/QC and heterogeneity management procedures necessary. Videos explain how to acquire correct samples in high-risk situations: (1) when sampling particulate materials; and, (2) where concentrations of interest are below ~1% (10,000 ppm). The methods apply best to soils, sediments, mineral ores, grains/cereals, auto fluff, pharmaceuticals, etc., as well as to air, surface water, groundwater, and other media. Also addressed are (1) critical sample "support" issues (physical mass) of both samples and subsamples to minimize sampling error; and, (2) long-range heterogeneity and spatial variability when multiple samples assess the extent of environmental contamination on a property, the amount of profitable ore in a mine, nuclear waste classifications, and other high risk/high stakes situations.
