We combine the two concepts of global value chains and trade and transport costs into a single concept of 'cross-border value chains' to optimize production and distribution systems, throught cost-minimizing supply chains and value chains between neighboring countries. Best of all, we cover these cross-border value chains from a practical (practitioner's) perspective. The focus is on industry-specific value chains for both products and services. For each industry, we carry out project appraisals based on cost-benefit analysis to monetarize net benefits, and also rate the non-monetarized benefits of each project according to preference rankings of various interest groups, including local households, governments, NGOs, international development institutions, and both multinational companies and SMEs. From a geographic perspective, the videos cover Southeast Asia, where the most dynamic applications of these value chains are occurring, including GMS, CAREC, IMT-GT and BIMP-EAGA.
