In 1985 I won the Chez 106 harmonica contest in Ottawa & formed the Phantoms. We moved to Toronto & started packing clubs across Canada. We played relentlessly, made two albums & had a profitable decade long run. Next I dove in with my band of house mates called Deep Down which morphed into One Monkey with Alec Fraser and we were all funky brothers. Next I was a hired gun for Ronnie Hawkins for 2 years and a CD, and then with Jack de Keyzer on & off. During this I became the bandleader for Jeff Healey at Healeys club where I discovered a 10 year old Jimmy Bowskill playing outside the club & we joined up & made a couple of CDs. After that Alec & I rediscovered reclusive Phantoms guitarist Joe Toole. We bonded with a deep country and bluegrass connection so Brokenjoe was born. I kept playing the blues with Eric Schenkman and Shawn Kellerman & with Erics help I won the International Blues Challenge Best Harmonica Player award and we started playing the festival circuit.
